Requirements

Citizens of many countries receive visa-free entry for 30–90 days for tourism. Others must obtain a visa in advance through a Malaysian embassy or the eVisa portal. Passport validity of at least six months is standard. Immigration may request proof of accommodation and return travel.

Processing

Eligible passport holders receive entry stamps at airport immigration. eVisa applications where required are processed online — typical turnaround 2–5 working days. Visa extensions are possible through immigration offices in Malaysia for valid reasons.

Malaysia immigration rules vary significantly by nationality. This page summarises general principles only. Refer to the official Immigration Department of Malaysia for authoritative country-specific requirements.

eVisa / Social Visit

Requirements

Indian passport holders typically require a visa for Malaysia. The Malaysia eVisa (eNTRI or tourist eVisa) allows tourism stays — eligibility, duration, and single vs multiple entry depend on current Immigration Department policy. Passport must be valid six months beyond entry.

Processing

Apply via the official Malaysia Visa Application Centre or eVisa portal. Processing commonly 3–5 working days. eNTRI where available is faster but restricts entry points and duration.

Indian nationals should verify the current eVisa and eNTRI status on official Malaysian government websites — categories and quotas change.
